At a local meeting held by the EDC, TDA and both Chamber of commerce groups called the "Round Table Discussion" the EDC said they were determining how Land Use (also known as zoning) would better support Rutherford County. Taken verbatim,

After seeing a line of people at a local WeeRuns sale, I can’t help to think of the people and local small businesses that will be affected by the new federal Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. The law put in place, partially in reaction to the number of recent hazardous Chinese imports, will cover not only sales of new production imports, but will also cover re-sale of existing items. The city of Spindale has declared a families home unfit and will tear it down by force. The city will not allow the house to be rebuilt because the land has since been re-zoned for commercial use. Read the full story here, from The Daily Courier.

Our local Hospice has added six suites to their Hospice House, which raises capacity to 18 units total. The Hospice House began its services in September of 2004; the facility is staffed 24 hours a day with nursing staff. See the full article from the Shelby Star.
